Cut the Commute

Regardless of where you work, everyone should be able to cut their commute to a fraction of what it currently is….

Because I’m not talking about the distance between your house and the office.

I’m talking about the distance between the desire to act and taking action.

See, most people think about doing something they want to do long before they actually do it.

Why?

Because we let ourselves get caught in (usually avoidable) traffic.

We say we aren’t ready…

We worry we might fail…

We minimize our desire and say it isn’t a priority…

We let the fear of others’ opinions hold us back….

And worst of all….

We wait for the perfect time to take action…

But the truth is, these are all rooted in fear, which is an action decelerator.

You’ll never be ready…

You might fail, yes. But failure offers an abundance of growth and opportunity, if you allow yourself to learn from it.

People’s opinions can be harsh but they can also be supportive.

Most frequently, though… you’ll probably find that people don’t really care.

They’re more focused on themselves.

Finally, there is no perfect time…. ever.

The stars won’t align and you won’t have God say, “Now is the right time.”

Which is good because then there would be no risk and no questions….

Where’s the fun, enjoyment and fulfillment in that?

We all have things we want to do:
• Learn to play guitar
• Start a conversation with that attractive guy or girl
• Launch your side hustle
• Leave a job you’re unhappy with
• Sign up for that event

The list goes on…

But no matter what the destination is, we still tend to get caught in the same traffic every time.

So be aware of those fear-driven decelerators and know they only hold what power you give them.

Kill the fear.

Take action.

Cut the commute.
